A rough guide below gives an indication of the sort of tasks carried out throughout the year. Planting is completed in the temperate parts of the year, avoiding the hottest and coldest parts of the year, giving young seedlings a chance to develop in the milder weather.

Pruning tends to take place in the coolest weather whilst the larger trees are in a dormant phase.

Fertilising is undertaken preferably before planting, so that young trees roots grow down, seeking the nutrients below.

Other tasks are conducted as required throughout the growing season. For example, we only need to water seedlings when are being planted if there is insufficient moisture, or if there is no follow up rain to help them establish.
